CT Minimum Wage Increasing on June 1, 2023

Beginning on Thursday, June 1, 2023, Connecticut’s minimum wage will increase from the current rate of $14.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour.

In 2019, Governor Lamont signed into law Public Act No. 19-4, which amended Conn. Gen. Stat. § 31-58 to include a schedule of five minimum wage increases over a five-year period, increasing the minimum wage from $11.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour. Going forward, beginning on October 15, 2023, and on each October 15th thereafter, the Labor Commissioner will announce the adjustment in the minimum fair wage which will become the new minimum fair wage effective on the following January 1st. The minimum fair wage will be adjusted by the percentage change in the employment cost index (or any successor index), for wages and salaries for all civilian workers, as calculated by the United States Department of Labor, over the twelve-month period ending on June 30th of the preceding year.
